In 1985, in Westchester County, NY, a small group of computer professionals met and agreed to purchase their first computers. We had to know everything there was to know about the current technology and so began our journey into cyberspace.
Actually, in those days, "cyberspace" was something not yet heard of. Although the concept of the "internet" was given birth to in the 50's, it was many years before it was to become mainstream.
So we experimented, corroborated with each other and became invested in the growing field of IT.
IBM released the first PC (personal computer) in 1981, and four years after it's release, I was the proud owner of an IBM PC XT. By todays standards, that "state of the art" computer would be worth slighly less than a cheap paperweight. But to us it was the beginning of a new vocation.
It wasn't long before public interest grew and PCs were soon to become household items. We realized that the more popular PCs became, the greater the need for support with this new technology.
We spent a number of years working together and helping those in need. It was around this time that businesses began to mainstream technology into the workplace, and with that, arose the need for tech support.
Corporate needs followed accordingly and so did we. We began to support many small businesses and home offices and in 1990, I secured a position at a major Wall Street firm, joining their IT team. I worked with them for several years while continuing to support and grow my own client base. I added adjunct professor to my resume, teaching technology classes at a local college. Towards the end of the 1990's, I moved from the NYC based company to a large international insurance broker located in Westchester County, NY.
While I was expanding my IT horizons, so were my associates. Some entered the corporate world, some taught, others pursued web design and some went the path of independent consulting.
Over 30 years later we are still working in the field independently as well as together....a trusted source that you can depend on.
